Bio:

Jonathan is a SPHeRE scholar of the Health Research Board and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and a doctoral researcher in health economics at the School of Economics of the University College Dublin. His research focuses on recessionary effects on health. He is particularly interested in the importance of economic change for the health of the under-analysed, such as the non-employed. Using the Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (TILDA), Jonathan did research on the statistical determinants of health inequalities in Northern and Southern Ireland and further worked as a policy analyst for the independent think tank publicpolicy.ie. Jonathan worked on the creation of a knowledge hub for the monitoring and research on determinants of dietary, physical activity and sedentary health behaviours across the life-course and in vulnerable groups as well as the translation of research to policy and practice. This project was carried out in collaboration with EU DEDIPAC, a multi-centre pan-European research project.  This has allowed Jonathan to contribute to journal articles, and technical reports for the Irish Government, United Nations and various European research bodies and universities. A short video on his current research activity can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mif-JS_BeEQ
